* Licensed Registered Nurse by Massachusetts State Board of Registration required
* 1 year to 3 years of experience working in medical surgical area is strongly preferred including direct patient care
* BLS certified
* Maintain and update clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing
education practices
* Maintain and demonstrate all ambulatory nursing core competencies
* Adhere to Department of Nursing requirements for required training
* Maintain and develop professional practice through continuing educational
programs
OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager and working in partnership with other unit nurses and designated physicians the nurse will be responsible for facilitating coordination of care while demonstrating safe practice within the following domains:
* Assessment clinical judgment and decisionmaking
* Phone triage
* Clinical nursing visits
* Teaching and education
* Documentation
MAJOR DUTIES
The candidate should possess strong assessment skills initiate POCT triage to the appropriate wait slot within the dept. or if deemed necessary to the appropriate outside clinical site. Candidate should possess the following skills:
internal candidates with knowledge of MGH outpatient resources helpful
willing to work specifically weekends alternating with a second nurse with
flexible scheduling as well as covering weekdays holidays and vacations
Be able to coordinate care of the complex medical patient expedite and act as a resource for the medical and ancillary staff in order to facilitate the visit
Be mindful of financial needs and constraints of the department and at the same time contribute insightfully to revenue building
Assist/discuss/nurture creative ways to increase daily work flow efficiency positive patient outcomes decrease wait times.
Ability to work in limited confined work space at a fast pace but at the same time maintain positive attitude and energy toward fellow staff patients public
Based on the interview and review of patient medical record assist with appropriate care plan and communicates with team (including provider partner) all pertinent clinical information
Obtain comprehensive data on individual patients personal medical/health histories including lab results medications and other pertinent data and documents in the medical record
Provide nurse education and office based treatments (nebulizers BP checks injections)
Serve as clinical resource to medical assistants and administrative staff helping them resolves clinical needs of patients
Participate in practicewide process improvement and quality improvement initiatives
Establish and implement appropriate followup care
Obtain required continuing education credits and maintain their documentation
