Purpose and Goal:

The Director of Fine Arts provides leadership and assistance in developing planning and implementing innovative practices for K12 Fine Arts World Languages Advanced Placement Programs Dual Enrollment Program and support for the wellbeing of students and staff.

This professional plays a critical role in this position and will be key to the success of all students and staff members.

This role involves sourcing attracting and recruiting prospective students and staff coordinating fine arts and nonathletic extracurricular programs for K12 education.

The director will manage programs while overseeing the fine arts curriculum and nonathletic extracurricular activities.

The Director analyzes the needs of students across the district and assists schools and personnel in developing implementing and analyzing the effectiveness of the districts support programs and other related areas.

This role promotes collaborative planning innovative thinking and exemplary programs and services.

The Director will also organize professional learning manage the budget and develop strategic growth plans for the Fine Arts Departments and student and staff services throughout the district ensuring alignment with the mission and vision set by the Superintendent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties of this position are noted below. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate with the superintendent or designee.

  • Articulate the districts mission and curriculum strategies to the community.

  • Demonstrate awareness of districtcommunity needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.

  • Serve as the district contact for Fine Arts K12.

  • Direct organize and coordinate the development of new fine arts programs.

  • Work with fine arts teachers directors and extracurricular sponsors on procedural needs.

  • Develop and maintain an inventory of fine arts equipment.

  • Coordinate with the human resource director to identify staffing needs.

  • Provide leadership in the development and assessment of K12 fine arts curriculum.

  • Plan and manage districtwide fine arts and nonathletic extracurricular activities.

  • Arrange for staff development workshops and clinics to improve instruction.

  • Review and evaluate developments in the fine arts and world languages curriculum.

  • Enforce state policies governing nonathletic extracurricular events and participation.

  • Implement policies established by federal and state law and local board policy.

  • Compile and present required reports and records.

  • Work with building principals on fine arts budgets purchasing and scheduling.

  • Develop and monitor nonathletic extracurricular budgets.

  • Prepare specifications for fine arts and world languages bids and supervise purchases.
  • Plan implement and evaluate student support services programming to ensure continuous program improvement for the benefit of all students in alignment with the divisions strategic plan.
  • Ensure the seamless delivery of support services for students through cooperative collaborative and timely efforts with schoolbased administrators central office departments parents and external organizations/agencies.
  • Provide leadership for support programs with the respective coordinators and other personnel.

  • Encourage community and parent involvement.

  • Develop and/or revise policies regulations and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations as they relate to specific program areas.

  • Provide legal interpretation of division state and federal regulations to school sites; provide legal updates to affected personnel.

  • Interpret the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements to schools regarding the management of student records and disclosures.

  • Manage and direct all staff participate in the selection training and evaluation of staff.

  • Promote a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment that fosters the academic achievement of all students.

  • Develop organize and implement culturally relevant professional development opportunities for district building leaders and program staff to establish a culture of high expectations and shared responsibility.

  • Collaborate with district administrators to develop lead and implement a systematic process that identifies and addresses inequalities and other experiences that create barriers to student engagement.

  • Assess the distribution of academic supports with a clear equity lens ensuring allocations provide the best resources to equitably and effectively meet the needs of all RCSs students families and schools.

  • Implement review and comply with federal and state laws and district policies.
  • Collect analyze and use assessment personnel student and other data.

  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent.

Essential Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Masters Degree or Higher
  • Leadership Certification

  • Five years of teaching experience in fine arts.

  • Leadership responsibility in fine arts.

  • Experience with recruitment hiring and managing roles.

  • Ability to develop and manage programs and budgets.

  • Knowledge of music art theater and nonathletic extracurricular programs.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with social media resumes databases and professional networks.

  • Handson experience with fullcycle recruiting and Applicant Tracking Systems.

  • Strong public relations and interpersonal skills.
