What to expect.
You will work collaboratively with GBMC Emergency Department (ED) staff to ensure linkages to necessary services for patients with serious mental illness. This includes Sheppard Pratts Baltimore City Crisis Residential Program a 16bed facility dedicated to supporting patients who enter the GBMC ED.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Fostering relationships with GBMC patients through innovative engagement methods including offering support and followup.
- Helping patients understand their health conditions develop improvement strategies and adopt healthier behaviors.
- Consulting with treatment teams about identified behavioral health conditions as needed.
- Developing community partnerships to make expedited referrals on behalf of ED patients.
- Facilitating admission of patients to the crisis residential program in Baltimore City when appropriate.
- Requesting authorization for services through the Administrative Service Organization or private insurance portal when patient is transferred to the crisis residential program.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to years and level of related experience.
What we need from you.
- A high school diploma or GED. A bachelors degree in social work health care administration or related area is strongly preferred.
- Two years of positively referenced work experience.
- Experience working in a hospital and/or with multiple insurance payors is preferred.
- A drivers license with 3points or less and access to an insured vehicle.
