General Information & Responsibilities
Black Hawk College seeks a fulltime ESL (English as a Second Language) Instructor for our Adult Education department. This is an inperson position at our Outreach Center in East Moline IL .
Starting 8/11/2025 with the beginning of 2025 Fall semester.

Faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures discussions and other presentations or activities to enhance the students educational experience; develops and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students performance; develops secures and maintains the instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material. Education & Experience
- ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (Adult Education) Masters degree inTESOL/TESL/TEFL/ESL or Linguistics and two semesters of documented experience teaching ESL to adult learners whose educational attainment is less than postsecondary level required.ORMasters degree in a related field with a Bachelors degree in TESOL/TESL/TEFL/ESL or Linguistics and two semesters of documented experience teaching ESL learners required. ICCB required professional development coursework to meet Standards Proficient Instructor criteria required within two years of initial employment.ORMasters degree in a related field with a Bachelors degree in Education; having a validIllinois ESL Endorsement or equivalent and two semesters of documented experienceteaching ESL learners required. ICCB required professional development coursework to meet Standards Proficient Instructor criteria required within two years of initial employment.OR
Masters degree in a related field with a Bachelors degree and 10 semesters of documented experience teaching ESL learners required. ICCB required professional development coursework to meet Standards Proficient Instructor criteria required within two years of initial employment.All ESL candidates must:be able and willing to work with adult minority populations on all levels;demonstrate oral and written English proficiency;demonstrate instructional technology proficiency for the classroom. This position is open until filled. Minimum starting salary for fulltime faculty for theacademic year is $50036. Fulltime faculty have a base contract of 9 months and are paid over 12 months per year. Base load is based on 30 equated hours per academic year.
