Job Description
Department Overview
The Division of Vascular Surgery at OHSU provides excellent patient care while maintaining educational and researchrich programs that train surgeons and researchers and enhance their understanding of the vascular system. A special interest in quality outcomes and measurement drives much of the divisions research they offer a 2year vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship as well as an integrated residency program. OHSUs vascular surgeons operate out of the Knight Cardiovascular Institute.
Function/Duties of Position
- Perform and provide primary medical diagnostic preventative education and treatment services at OHSU and in accordance with applicable policies and standards.
- Diagnoses treats or prescribes treatment of the foot ankle and other related structures using medical histories physical examinations xrays and laboratory test results.
- Ensures that clinical service delivery is conducted in accordance with evidencebased practice best practice standards and effective clinical risk management.
- Enhances the quality of patient care by delivering evidenced based podiatry interventions through the diagnosis treatment and prevention of foot problems.
- Maintains current knowledge of contemporary podiatry techniques and healthcare issues and ensure all clinical practice is in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements professional code of ethics professional code of conduct and available evidence.
- Assess plan and implement appropriate intervention to clients with diabetes including those with active foot complications requiring pressure care and wound management.
- Participates in team and disciplinebased quality improvement research and service development activities related to diabetic foot complications diabetic foot wound healing management. Limb preservation and Ischemia and amputations preventions.
- Build a comprehensive Diabetes Foot program at the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center and OHSU
- Demonstrates thorough understanding and absolute commitment to the principles and practices of infection control regulations and procedures.
- Dedicated research FTE to advance the Diabetic Foot and Limb Preservation and Ischemia research and clinical program. Which will support collaboration with the Foot Consortium and contribute to securing and executing additional grants further strengthening research and clinical impact in this critical area.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
- 3 year surgical residency
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certification
- Current Oregon Board of Medical Examiners license
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certification
