Bachelors degree in related information systems or health care discipline required or an equivalent combination of a BA and 3 years
Basic understating of hardware and software concepts (programming web pages) and relational database concepts and file formats for exporting and importing data between applications such Epic > Access.
3 years experience working in a healthcare setting with 50 or more employees and two or more functional areas such as patient scheduling member enrollment thirdparty billing or patient care.
Experience in implementing or supporting in any of the following: admissions registration scheduling billing clinical documentation or electronic medical records application.
Interpersonal/Communication: Strong interpersonal/communications active listening and facilitation skills. Forms effective relationships within the department and hospital and is diplomatic when interacting with individuals at all levels.
Organizational and Time Management Skills: Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage dayto day operational tasks and issues. Adeptly to work independently to establish priorities and is flexible to accommodate changes in priorities to reflect the needs of the work environment.
Information Systems/Technology Skills: Experience with MS SharePoint or other web base collaborative applications. Understand and analyze data structures for writing queries using MS Access or MS SQL or other report writing tools application testing performing data extractions for reporting or resolving application issues. Strong interest in technology advances is essential.
Desktop Skills: Excellent knowledge and use of the Microsoft Windows platform and Microsoft Office applications specifically Word Excel and Access.
Process Improvement: Strong analytical and problem solving skills to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the Departments business operations and provide advice on opportunities for improvement.
The MGH Physical and Occupational Therapies Department is seeking a systems analyst that will primarily provide stafflevel application technical and project support throughout the all the operations of the department. The support areas include scheduling billing and reporting among others. In addition the systems analyst will be involved in transitioning the department to Epic as part of the enterprise eCare initiative.
The systems analyst works under the direction of the Systems Manager to support the department. The department is comprised of 245 employees and the department provides inpatient and outpatient services with 5 ambulatory sites such as Main Campus (hospital) Sports and Revere. This individual will need to be able to function successfully under the direction of multiple team leads and independently without direct supervisory responsibility over team members.
This position will require a strong aptitude for understanding the departments needs and assessing proposed ideas and recommending solutions. The solutions proposed would require first leveraging and coordinating to the fullest extent possible the hospitals and Partners resources.
Desktop Support
1. Serve as the first point of contact for any computer/system related issue by managing and monitoring the departments reported issues. Review and triage issues and directing the issue to the appropriate resource such as Partners MGH or department. Followup and document issues to final resolution.
2. Provide handson support for departmental desktop applications such as PCkits BTE and Vestibular that are not supported by the Help Desk.
3. Develop and maintain good relationships with Partners and hospital resources associated with supporting the Departments devices and systems such as the Help Desk and Epic.
Operational Support
4. Manage the departments technological assets (desktops laptops and iPads) and coordinate device deployments and assist the staff in resolving device issues with the Partners Help Desk.
5. Create and perform scheduled system related activities such as autodischarging data base refreshes to support departmental operational and analytical processes.
6. Develop and disseminate technical user Tips and Tricks to educate staff to address reoccurring issues or improve staff efficiency and maximize the potential of existing technology.
7. Perform enduser orientation for departmental systems produce or leverage existing job aids and training material by maintaining the departments orientation SharePoint site.
Business Analysis
8.Support the departments transition to Epic by learning the current state functions that will be performed in Epic such as charge capture.
9. Support and perform Epic integrated testing by writing test scripts executing test cases and documenting defects to ensure business requirements are satisfied
10. Data retrieval and analysis that may include collecting surveying analyzing trending and presenting data and recommendations to department leadership
