You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians with tasks related to outpatient visits consistent with his/her training and skills. His/her primary role is to assure efficient patient flow through the office; to maintain neat clean and safe patient care areas and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional friendly manner consistent with their needs. Works under the supervision of the Newborn Developmental Follow up Clinic MD/NNP
.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains & reviews the daily schedule of patients and ensures all appropriate preparations are in place to facilitate efficient patient flow for the day. At the time of patient appointment greets the patient and brings him/her from the waiting room to the appropriate exam room. Captures the pediatric patients weight and length/height and appropriate vital signs and prepares patient for the physician evaluation. Completes appropriate portion of LMR sections; patients allergies medication reconciliation (prepares it for MDs review). Ensures clinic rooms are neat clean professionallooking; appropriately and neatly stocked with supplies lab requisitions and all materials necessary for efficient patient care; equipment is in good working order; orders supplies through Practice Manager Maintains any equipment for patient use; promptly reports problems to Biomedical Engineering and Practice Manager. Promotes patient/customer satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional friendly manner consistent with their needs; maintains patient confidentiality Adheres to hand hygiene and standard precaution guidelines Participates in all quality assurance activities of the practice Accepts all other duties & responsibilities as assigned and in a positive manner; offers help to others in the practice when not busy
QUALIFICATIONS:
HS diploma or equivalent; Graduate of an approved medical certification programor equivalentCandidate will have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to help coordinate clinic. Scheduling parent interaction and team coordination in between clinics expected. On clinic days assisting with weighing and measuring the babies room preparation cleaning giving appointments and anticipating team needs. Ensuring items are appropriately stocked for clinic days. On nonclinic days attending multidisciplinary medical rounds in the NICU and Special Care Nursery units to determine patients requiring referrals assisting with scheduling and ensuring brochures are stocked. Also on nonclinic days ensuring letters are finalized and sent to physician EIP services and families in timely fashion.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Ability to weigh measure and plot on preterm growth curve Take vital signs and pulse oximetry when needed Strong patients care skills; excellent interpersonal skills Sound judgment and problemsolving ability Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment and see them through to completion Ability to work independently and as a team player. WORKING CONDITIONS: Fastpaced; outpatient setting; Clinic hours; 8:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Every Monday of the month with occasional additional clinic time (space permitting).Additional administrative officehours will also be REQUIRED. Strong PC skills time management and proficiencyaround outpatient clinic operations preferred.
Grant
