Bachelors degree in biology molecular biology microbiology biochemistry or related field. Masters degree preferred.
1 years of lab experience preferably in a molecular biology laboratory. 2 years desirable

The Engelman and Benes Labs in the MGH Cancer Center are seeking a highly motivated and wellorganized individual for a fulltime Research Technician II position. The candidate will play a key role in the labs research focus identifying mechanisms of resistance to target therapies in order to improve treatment of solid tumors. The candidate will work with an Instructor in the lab to design and test novel therapeutic strategies in cancer cell cultures obtained from patients. This position will be integral to the projects growth through technical and academic contributions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop cell lines from patient tumors and contributes to their preliminary characterization using general tissue culture techniques of adherent and suspension cells (maintenance passaging drug treatment cryopreservation etc. and culture techniques specific to primary cancer cells.
- Independently carries out nonroutine highly specialized experimental procedures in histology immunofluorescence FACS and highthroughput drug sensitivity assays.
- Operates and maintains moderate to complex lab equipment such as highcontent imager confocal microscope
- Performs advanced data analysis using complex software programs and statistical techniques.
- Independently modifies and/or develops techniques and methodologies necessary to meet research and/or experimental needs. Organizes workflow as needed and coordinates scheduling of procedures.
- Prepares reports on status of research determination of technical procedures sequence of operations including statistical and graphic summaries of findings and possible conclusions. Collaborates with supervisor in writing and editing material for publication and may appear as principal or secondary author on publications.
- May teach moderately difficult to complex lab techniques to students and research personnel.
