Position Title: Supplier Quality Technician

Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group Heil Environmental

Location: Fort Payne AL

Reports to: Supplier Quality Engineer

Department: Supply Chain

Position Summary:

Supplier Quality Technician is responsible for performing process product system audits and lead in the development or maintenance of Quality inspections used to control assemblies or components. In addition the Quality technician is responsible for supporting product inspections against an inspection list work instruction or by performing performance testing. Purpose to ensure that products comply with quality standards and are produced per process work instructions and product drawing requirements. Additionally the Quality Tech supports the sustainment of ISO Certification for Heil thru Document and Calibration Control and data collection and provide support to the Quality Engineers.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads efforts to initiate and finalize root cause analysis and corrective actions (i.e. 8Ds 5Ys A3s etc. for Supplier quality defects.
  • Performs initial containment for supplier quality issues.
  • Supports Supplier Quality Engineers in conducting supplier audits ensuring appropriate process and QA controls are in place to allow for dock to line defect free product while ensuring OTD performance.
  • Supports SQEs in compiling and analyzing product warranty data.
  • Support material returns with RMA for supplier quality issues.
  • Actively participate with Engineering design teams in new product release and or product improvement activities.
  • Work with suppliers to develop and approve PPAPs for new parts.
  • Responsible for inspecting and providing PPAP disposition for new parts ne parts revisions and parts resourced to new or existing vendors.
  • Prepares and issues all necessary reports and/or correspondence. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel Outlook Power Point).
  • Occasional travel as needed up to 5.All travel is within driving distance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Root Cause analysis experience.
  • Work experience in manufacturing environment purchasing and/or materials or closely related field.
  • Hydraulics Electrical Systems and Fab/ Steel experience is a plus.
  • Candidate should have strong analytical and technical abilities.
  • Works well with minimum supervision and must be able to handle multiple wide range tasks.
  • Highly organized and detailed.
  • Read prints and work instructions and initiate NCRs.
  • MS Office CreoView JDE and BI Reports.
  • Execute A3 forms 8D forms and lead value stream mapping activities.
  • ISO 9001 audit and/or system administration experience is a plus.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Excellent written skills.
  • Works well with team members.
  • Desire to make impact with suggesting improvements for how to improve inspection effectiveness.
  • Excellent work ethics.
  • Willing to work weekends and overtime as required.

Requirements:

Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions lists and billing materials; use PC based applications including Mainstar Outlook and Microsoft Office knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience.

Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50 of time.

Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70 lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15 of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10 of time; involves repetitive stooping forward bending and crouching approximately 5 of time.

Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment meters chains hoists automatic drills and general hand tools and to record written information.

Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.

Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.

Environmental: Involves exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust fumes noise and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
