Norfolk is a beautiful and dynamic county with an excellent quality of life. We are experiencing unprecedented growth in housing and employment with large scale urban extensions coming forward across Norfolk. The Growth and Investment directorate plays a key role in ensuring the future prosperity of Norfolk with the Major and Estate Development team representing the highway authority as a planning consultee helping to shape communities.
The team is looking for an enthusiastic dynamic and proactive individual who wants to work in a vibrant and forwardthinking environment to help deliver ambitious longterm sustainable growth in Norfolk. You will be involved in a range of activities including leading on bringing forward the countys strategic development sites by working with Local Planning Authorities developers elected members and other stakeholders in the planning process.
You will represent the County Council in the consideration of large scale growth proposals at all stages of the planning process through to delivery ensuring travel choices are widened and safe and sustainable development is delivered. You will influence and build partnerships across local authorities and external organisations developing strong networks to help deliver multiagency projects. This will involve attending public meetings planning committees and development & delivery team meetings.
You will be educated to degree level in an appropriate discipline or have appropriate experience (a minimum of 5 years in a relevant highways discipline). You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work with a broad range of peopleand have an appreciation of operating in a political environment on often complex and contentious matters.
The position is both challenging and rewarding; you will have a good attention for detail have a sound knowledge of highways and transport matters and the skills to influence key decisions taken by others.
You will be expected to regularly work from the office; however all our officebased roles include hybrid working as part of our smarter working plans to support health and wellbeing.
