Overall description:
Under the direction of the Supervisor/Release of Information Health Information Services Department this position is responsible for processing written requests for medical information to patients or authorized parties in accordance with HIPAA General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (MGL) Department of Public Health (DPH) and the policies of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Ensures timely response to said requests and maintains the confidentiality and integrity of all information. This position provides direct customer point of service and supports the overall release of information process for internal and external customers of MGH.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent minimum. College course work preferred
Knowledge of medical record and release of information procedures at a level generally acquired during one year of experience is preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to deliver high quality customer service utilizing excellent verbal telephone communication and writing skills
Ability to deal with demanding customers calmly and with tact
Ability to remedy and diffuse problematic release of information issues by applying high quality time management and prioritization skills.
Ability to work independently. Strong time management/organizational skills and self discipline essential
Willingness to be oncall and cover other shifts if necessary
Excellent computer navigation skills
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment with multiple and conflicting demands.
Ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to bend stoop stretch and lift 25 lbs. of records
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and customers.
