Your New Organisation:
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an international organisation cofounded by France and India. The ISA is a 123memberstate organisation headquartered in Gurgaon National Capital Region of India. At ISA we strive to transition and transform the energy sector from fossil based to a zerocarbon solar energy source. We are establishing a dedicated platform of cooperation among solar rich countries where the global community including bilateral and multilateral organizations corporates industry and other stakeholders can make a positive contribution to the solar energy transition. We are helping our Member States meet their energy needs in a safe convenient affordable equitable and sustainable manner.
Your New Role
Reporting to the Assistant DirectorGeneral (Programs) or a designated officer this role will lead a team of professionals International and National Officers. The Chief will lead the engagement with private sector companies and financial sector institutions to provide expert advice develop policies seek innovative entrepreneurship and risk mitigation instruments and lead the resource mobilization and fundraising efforts. S/he will lead the Global Solar Financing facility including financing and capital/investment flows to different continents that will meet ISA s mandates in enabling private financing for solar projects/initiatives.
Your Broader Scope of Work (but not limited to)
Lead engagement with global and private sector stakeholders in ISA activities especially related to grid scale solar decentralized solar battery storage and new technologies.
Lead the team on innovative financing instruments including derisking insurance equity and other risk mitigation instruments
Raise Funds from global and national agencies to develop people s skills training research and innovation (solar power)
Improve global access to Solar Components and Raw Materials (as part of Energy Transition and Energy Security)
Raise investments for Solar and manage investments
Relationship and Partnership Management
Supervise and manage the staff of the service.
Requirements
Education
Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in Engineering Economics Business Administration Management including Energy Management Public Administration or a related discipline required.
What you will need to succeed
- A minimum of 15 years of experience with strong preference for a combination of experience working in private sector as well as public/ multilateral institutions with focus on policy regulatory and financing arrangements. Prior experience indesigning private sector solar investments fundraising investment management or partnership development is required.
- This must include at least 4 years of work experience at a P3 level (or equivalent) managing multilateral fundraising activities within a major international organization multilateral development financial organizations private sector groups in the solar or renewable energy sectors or an international and/or national NGO.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have between three to five years of relevant private sector experience including international experience in enabling private sector investments through policy regulatory and financing innovations in solar and battery storage. Experience in trust fund management is also preferred.
Languages
The role requires strong writing and verbal communication skills. As English is the official and working language of the organization a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of additional languages such as French Spanish or Arabic would be considered an advantage.
Your Place of Work (if successful with the recruitment process)
The Chief of Private Sector Engagement and Resource Mobilisation will be based out of the Secretariat of the ISA Gurgaon Haryana State India on a fulltime basis 2year term with a possibility of extension as per ISA Rules & Regulations).
Technology and Solar Specialist Education A PhD in Renewable or Electrical Engineering or Master s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Physical Science. What you will need to succeed: It is preferred that the successful candidate has 12 years of relevant professional work experience within the private sector/Multilateral Organisations/ International Organisations/ Govt/ donor agencies. Experience and or knowledge of similar work being undertaken in one of the three target regions for ISA (Africa, Asia/Pacific, Latin America) will be highly regarded. Strong analytical capabilities and experience in conducting risk assessments to guide fund mobilization priorities and project initiation decisions in a complex regulatory environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills on highly technical solar programs A strategic experience in stakeholder relationship management/technology management within the solar energy sector. Demonstrated solar technology project management experience, including balancing multiple assignments from conception to completion on schedule and within budget. Languages & IT skills: The role demands substantial writing and verbal communications skills. As English is the official and working language of the Organization, excellent command of both written and spoken English is required.
