Job Title:Speech and LanguagePathologist (SLP) Longterm substitute
Reports to:Principal and Student Services Coordinator

Work Year:31 days May 6thJune 18th
Compensation:$275 per day per diem
Job Goal:The Speech and Language Pathologist fosters a love of learning that encourages student curiosity engagement and growth in a welcoming community of learners. The SLP facilitates the communication academic social and behavioral support for students with special abilities through direct service collaboration consultation and coaching guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks district standards and requirements and IEP goals. The SLP should be well versed in IDEA IEP team process administration of assessments and possess strong oral and written communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:Masters degree from an accredited college/university in a related field (preferred)
- Professional Certification:
- ASHA certified
- MA DESE SEI and ACC Endorsement preferred but not required
- CORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
Specialized Knowledge:

Preferred Experience:
- Experience teaching English Language learners and in a diverse public school setting
- Experience with students with special abilities including students with physical cognitive emotional behavioral and/or learning challenges
- Strong background in inclusive special education practices
- Experience writing and implementing IEPs
- Experience creating SMART (specific measurable attainable relevant timebound) IEP and progress goals
Skills:

- Conducts and analyzes results from a variety of assessments to identify areas of need develop targeted student objectives and/or monitor progress

- Partners and collaborates with team teachers department colleagues and specialists

- Integrates technology in order to enhance and extend student learning experiences
- Bilingual skills especially in Spanish and Portuguese are highly desirable

- Understandsand conforms to professional and ethical standards for SLP
CENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
- Manages a caseload of students to ensure that IEPs are implemented and that appropriate student progress is made
- Writes revises and monitors students IEPs goals and progress effectively and adjusts instruction interventions or therapy to ensure student progress
- Monitors student progress using datadriven SMART Goal measures and effectively communicates such progress through written progress reports and formal and informal communications with colleagues and families
- Collaborates with colleagues as a CoTeacher and/or consultant in order to optimize student learning as related to communication in the general education classroom
- Maintains and improves professional competence through active participation in professional development activities internal and external that meet district expectations and the requirements for licensure recertification
- Participates in all faculty and committee meetings as required and districtwide committees as needed
- Any other relative duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Speech LanguagePathologist has no supervisory responsibilities.

Salary benefits and responsibilities per the contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
