St. Mary AcademyBay View is seeking a fulltime special education teacher for theschool year. The person in this position will be helping to launch the PurcellPromise a new program at Bay View that supports complex learners. These students require more extensive support and will have a modified curriculum and pathway at BayView. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with academic support to students in grades 6 through 12. Candidates must be committed to an allgirls and Mercyeducation.Responsibilities: Work with the Director of Academic Support and the Purcell Promise Program to create and implement the Purcell Promise curriculum and lessons; Help oversee and implement Individualized Service Plans for students with IEPs or 504 Plans; Work directly with students who need executive functioning support: organization planning prioritizing and following through on tasks; Collaborate with teachers school counselors and parents to understand students emerging needs communicate progress and coordinate plans; Participate in school meetings; Work with regular education teachers in a team effort to plan curriculum and student support; Develop a cadre of sister students to partner with students in the new program for students with more significant learning differences.Successful candidates will possess the following attributes: High energy level creative and forwardthinking; Supports Mercy Values and the Mercy Critical Concerns; Works well as a member of a team; Honesty integrity and a strong work ethic; Understanding of adolescent development and knowledge of best practices for socialemotional learning; Strong work ethic and a caring temperament; Understanding and appreciation for the developmental range of the age group; Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks; Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; Collaborative skills including the ability to work with colleagues and families; and A sense of humor warmth and a love of working with young adolescents and their families.Education and Experience Requirements: A masters degree in Special Education or Reading Specialist preferred; and Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.TO APPLYGo to bayviewacademy/aboutbayview/employmentopportunities and download the Teaching Application.Submit Bay View Application letter of interest and resume to
