What Youll Do
Reliability Engineer (RE) provides a strategic support interface between Production Engineering Projects and the Maintenance Organizations by providing recommendations and technical expertise to enhance equipment design reliability and maintainability. The RE has a critical role in optimizing asset management processes through utilization of proactive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime failure rates and maximize equipment reliability. The RE is responsible for but not limited to:
- Defines and provides implementation support for recommendations that ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment processes utilities facilities controls and safety/security systems
- Provides reliability based technical support to Production Operations Infrastructure Management and Craft personnel
- Gathers reviews and analyzes data concerning facility or equipment reliability availability maintainability and inspectability (RAMI) specifications using simulation software to evaluate availability and the development of proactive maintenance strategies for the facility given RAMI design objectives
- Review technical documents that depict or define reliability accessibility maintainability or inspectability features of systems equipment and facilities including technical basis documentation manuals and datasheets
- Lead role in integration of project and plant RAMI deliverables
- Development of proactive maintenance strategies for structures systems and components
- Equipment Failure Mode Identification and Root Cause Failure Analysis
- Trend Analysis of structures systems and components
- Defines develops implements revises and monitors Asset Management Plan(s) for structures systems and components
- Effective deployment of condition based predictive and other nondestructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems before failure occurrence
- Completion and presentation of both RAMI and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses to internal and external engineering partners. Analysis to include labor distributions critical spares identification proactive asset management plans failure rates MTBF MTTR and lifecycle cost analysis.
- Creation & analysis of FMEA for new and existing Structures Systems and Components (SSCs).

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in engineering/physical science discipline with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA OR a Masters degree in engineering/physical science discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA OR a PhD in engineering/physical science discipline with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
- There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years postgraduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire.
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e. Baccalaureate in Training or Education. Education must include courses that focus on instructional analysis design development delivery and testing as well as evaluation of training programs). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements
- BS in engineering/physical science discipline with 4 years of Reliability Engineering experience or Masters degree in engineering/physical science discipline with 2 years of Reliability Engineering experience

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligencescope polygraph pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
