Job Description

The Assistant Volleyball Coach assists teaching coaching training performance and recruitment of studentathletes for the varsity volleyball team by performing the following duties.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Primary purpose is to teach and coach studentathletes while assisting the head coach in the conduct of the program.

Performs components of the varsity volleyball sports program to include coaching recruiting office duties and video oversight.

Identifies and recruits academically qualified studentathletes and reinforces studentathletes goal to graduate.

Actively support the endeavors and advancement of the Missouri Southern Athletics Department.

Operates within the guidelines of Missouri Southern State University MIAA and NCAA rules and regulations.

Communicates with members of the media when the head coach is not available.

Performs athletic administration and support activities including regular attendance at department meetings.

Work effectively and collaboratively with medical staff including athletic trainers team physicians and strength and conditioning coaches to ensure the physical and mental health and wellbeing of studentathletes.

Assists with game day operations. Performs all duties required for proper game day operation including court set up and breakdown.

Develop and maintain quality relationships within the community both on and offcampus.

Promote the academic and athletic wellbeing of studentathletes.

Conduct summer camps and clinics if warranted.

Performs other related duties as required.

Education Experience and Licenses

Bachelors degree from an accredited fouryear college or university required. Masters degree preferred.

Competitive background in collegiate volleyball preferred as well as one to two years of coaching experience at the club level or above.

Current certification in first aid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use is preferred at the time of hire and will be required prior to participation in any countable athletically related activities as defined by the NCAA.

Must have valid drivers license and the ability to meet insurance requirements for driving university vehicles.

The employee is occasionally required to sit climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to attend volleyball matches and conduct practice sessions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
