JOB GOAL: To promote and enhance the overall academic mission by providing social work services that strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to student learning. Integrates counseling and student assistance services with other schoolbased programs designed to increase resilience and improve social and emotional wellbeing resulting in improved academic performance. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:For Students:1. Establish and facilitate short/longterm student support groups2. Provide crisis intervention3. Develop social and emotional intervention strategies to increase academic success4. Assist with conflict resolution and anger management5. Help students develop appropriate social interaction skills6. Assist students in their understanding and acceptance of self and othersFor Parents/Guardians/Families:1. Interview families to assess problems affecting students educational progress and /or adjustment2. Work with parents to facilitate support in their childs learning3. Work with families to help alleviate stress to enable the child to function effectively in school and community4. Assist parents in accessing programs available to meet their childs social or emotional support needs5. Assist parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources6. Provide parent/guardian educational workshops on identified issuesFor School Personnel: 1. Provide essential information to better understand the factors affecting a students performance and behavior2. Develop staff inservice training programs3. Collaborate with school administration to assist teachers 4. Collaborate effectively with the Student Support Team (SST) to support the social and emotional needs of our school community5. As a schoolcommunity liaison:6. Build bridges between schools parents and community resources7. Obtain and coordinate community resources to meet students needs8. Help school districts receive adequate support from social and mental health agencies9. Help the system respond effectively to each students needs10. Provide related services:
