Job Description

Lead Teacher: PreTeach Math This Summer with The Calculus Project(Algebra Algebra II/Geometry Algebra 2/Trig teachers needed)LOCATION/Dates: UMASS Lowell Campus 7/21 8/8/2025CONTENT: PreTeach math to middle or high school studentsRATE: $54.00/hour (for 5 hours/day 5 days/week over three weeks)HOURS: 9am 2pm dailyAbout TCPThe mission of The Calculus Project is to use researchsupported strategies to increase the representation and success of Black Hispanic and lowincome students in advanced mathematics. There are seven distinct components that support students yearround and one of these is preteaching in the summer. About the PositionTeachers who thrive at TCP love kids are dedicated to their craft embrace feedback and constantly seek to build connections. As a summer teacher you will have 2025 students and you will preteach the skills and concepts that they will be learning in the first semester in the fall. You will have a partner teacher as well as student peer teachers to support your work. In addition to teaching mathematics you will chaperone students on field trips and will teach SEL activities planned by TCP. Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement math curriculum with middle or high school students
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor and parents regarding student progress
  • Develop formative and summative measurement tools to evaluate student progression
  • Attend a paid workshop on planning and developing curricula and lessonsQualifications
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Teaching experience and experience working with adolescents preferred
  • Experience working effectively with students and staff of various cultures and linguistic backgrounds
  • Creativity and ability to foster curiosity and excitement about learning mathematics
