Job Description

Conant High School is seeking a learnercentered educator to round out our Science team as our Physics/Chemistry teacher.Conant High School embraces a team approach where collaboration 612 as with subject area teams is structured into the weekly schedule in order to maximize student learning. The ideal candidate has an understanding of modern learning practices that differentiates formative and summative assessments with all lessons connected to learning outcomes. In addition the candidate will:Instruct and assess relevant and rigorous learner outcomes written in learning progressions. Utilize inquiry and handson lab activities to supplement content instruction on a regular basis.Integrate expectations and instruction in higher level thinking within all instructional units.Nurture within each learner an interest and fondness for science and scientific inquiry.Develop learner skill and interest in reading interpreting and utilizing informational text.Align curriculum instruction and assessment to clear learning targets.Offer opportunities for meaningful learner voice and choice.Establish a strong positive learning environment.Serve as a Teacher Mentor for a small group of learners.Assess and monitor learning using a variety of methods and adjust instruction accordingly to individual learner needs.Be a positive and active member of various learning communities within the school.
