FrontLine Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a FrontLine Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager for the SI&WS Design Center in Houston TX.

This is a multifunctional Engineering Organization with a mission statement to provide engineering solutions via a highly skilled flexible workforce and cutting edge technologies for the advancement of the Boeing Enterprise. The Design Center provides engineering support to Enterprise wide projects/programs and is a flexible team that strategically adapts to emerging opportunities.

This Mechanical and Structural Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers in the design development and implementation of mechanical and structural systems. This role involves project management technical oversight and collaboration with crossfunctional teams to ensure that engineering projects meet quality safety and performance standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers stakeholders peers partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes.
  • Manages develops and motivates employees.
  • The ideal candidate will excel in both the engineering technical acumen/excellence required for this role while being an engaging and motivating people leader including committing to:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
  • 5 years of experience in the field of engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in leading or managing an engineering team.
  • Willing to travel up to 10.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical Aerospace or Civil Engineering.
  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience.
  • Experience using Boeing NonRecurring Product Development (NRPD) or equivalent Boeing Development Processes.
  • Excellent communications skills verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management customers and partners.
  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion transparency and trust.
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
  • Previous experience in leading mentoring and engaging individuals and teams.
  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Can uplevel existing team by hiring high performance talent growing leaders and helping underperforming members.
  • Can gain trust of team and provide guidance for their careers.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
