Job purpose / summary / objective
Ensures all work is carried out in a safe and orderly manner. Complies with protocols and documentation as related to OSHA and food safety. Regularly inspect buildings grounds machines and equipment to identify potential issues. Performs preventive maintenance on plant equipment to keep in good running order. Assist in troubleshooting problems and perform minor mechanical repairs to minimize downtime. Work collaboratively with Operations Team to share knowledge and contribute to a Continuous Improvement environment. Protect the companys investment in machinery and equipment by exercising proper care skill and knowledge.
General Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
- Conduct maintenanceand troubleshootingofsomeindustrial robots
- Ability toproperlydocumentWorkOrders withappropriate data(labor hours downtime problem/cause/remedy and parts used)
- Experienced inoperatinga variety of equipment including snow blowers lawn mowers and small hand tools
- Must understand basic electrical plumbing and pneumatic systems
- Willingness to develop andmaintainpositive working relationships across all levels of the organization
- Followappropriate safetyprocedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) whilemaintainingequipment (Lock Out/Tag Out Arc Flash etc. and ensure a safe work environment byeliminatingpotential equipment safety hazards
- Operatecompanyvehicles to complete maintenance activities on the exterior of the facility and within the truckyard as well as travel to nearby facilities and local stores toprocureparts and supplies
- Performs all duties in compliance with plant rules and practices safety conduct sanitationand good housekeeping.
- Capableto workat heightsfrom ladders and scaffolding in a safe manner.
- Capable of operating Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV) (fork truck aerial lift etc. Willing to be certified through Bright Farms Training
- Must be able to work overtime ifrequired.
- Work efficiently and effectively with supervision in a team environment.
- Familiar with basic machine shop equipment (ex: lathes and mills)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Repairs or replaces defectiveelectrical plumbing or mechanicalcomponents
- Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical pneumatic and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site including conveyor systems packaging equipment palletizers etc.
- Disassemblesreplacesor repairs mechanical and electrical components
- Maintain and troubleshoot motors photo eyes relays proximity sensors solenoids motor starters encoders etc.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems software and Programmable Logic Controls
- Provide technicalassistancewhen problems are encountered
- Assistwith the installationandmaintenance ofelectrical control systems and equipment
- Maintain electrical parts assemblies and systems to correct functional deviations
- Know and understand method and sequence of operations for troubleshooting and testing equipment
- Familiar withbasicwiring diagrams symbols blueprintsand electrical measuring
- Ability to troubleshoot basic Input/Output functionsPreventive/predictive maintenance procedures
- Familiar with industrial controls electronicsconveyance systems and pneumatic
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 35yearsof tradeschoolor equivalentmilitary/work experience
- Ability to work any shift weekends and holidays asrequired
- Climb steps
- Lift 50 pounds andmaintainbalance
- Ability to perform duties in extreme varying temperatures
- Crawl over under and into equipmentwithin company LOTO proceduresas necessary to perform job duties
- Work from ladders and lifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degreein a technical or industrial field.
- Food or agriculture industry experience
- Understanding of advanced industrial electrical systems including DC voltage and AC voltage from 24V to 480V
Working conditions / Environment / Travel / Schedule required
Greenhouse/Outside/Coolers/Office. Maintenance will have exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Often Work near moving mechanical parts including in the vicinity of occasional high noise environments is required.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job employees are expected to sometimes use hands to finger handle or feel. Frequently standing walking reaching with hands and arms as well as stooping kneeling crouching and climbing. The lifting requirements to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The employee should have clear correctable vision at close and distance range as well as peripheral vision to notice safety hazards.
