The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to departmental budgets qualifications experience education licenses specialty and training. The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy ISERP is Columbia Universitys research institute dedicated to the social sciences. ISERP pioneers research and integrates knowledge and methods across the social sciences. ISERP supports researchers faculty students and social science research through research development education and training programs centers programmatic initiatives and administrative support.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance the Grants ManagerPost Award is responsible for providing comprehensive postaward grants management for Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP). The Grants ManagerPost Award ensures compliance with University government and private funding agency policies resolves financial problems prevents overdrafts manages reconciliation of accounts reviews financial reports oversees grant deposits and monitors domestic and foreign funding.

Responsibilities

Personnel Supervision 15

Supervises a fulltime Grants Financial Coordinator and a fulltime Accounts Payable SpecialistGrants.

Account Management 60

To ensure compliance with applicable guidelines and policies the Grants ManagerPost Award is responsible for reviewing Notices of Award upon receipt communicating key terms and conditions to PIs and providing accurate guidance to PIs on cost principles effort reporting etc. throughout the life of the award.

Responsible for reviewing award setup forms and budget modifications for consistency with applicable fringe and IC rates approved budgets and available funding.

Responsible for monitoring all grant accounts managing account reconciliations reviewing financial reports resolving financial problems and preventing overdrafts.

Responsible for preparing allocations consistent with PI guidance and approved budgets for grantfunded personnel and for reconciling salary distributions.

Oversees tracking additional compensation from grants accounts including Faculty summer salaries.

Oversees quarterly financial review process.

Serves as a key representative for ISERP to central departments of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and Sponsored Projects Finance (SPF).

Financial Approvals 20

Responsible for daytoday approval of all grantrelated accounts payable and procurement requests including journal entries vouchers requisitions and internal transfers (ITFs) in Accounting and Reporting at Columbia (ARC) the Universitys system of financial records.

Reviews and approves purchasing card (Pcard) monthly reconciliations for grantrelated transactions.

Serves as Initial Reviewer of grantrelated reimbursement requests in Concur.

Approves all grantrelated additional compensations salary distributions and cost transfers in (PAC) the Universitys Human Resources system.

Approves all grantrelated payroll transactions for student casuals and support staff.

Other 5

Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelors degree or equivalent and 2 to 3 years of grantrelated experience including managing grant finances budgeting and accounting experience.

Additional PositionSpecific Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated capacity for independent serviceoriented work welldeveloped critical thinking verbal and written communication skills and the ability to foster cooperative relationships with University and external personnel is required.

Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly master a range of administrative interfaces.

Ability to direct evaluate and supervise the work of assigned personnel.

2 to 3 years of postaward experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience in higher education or notforprofit organizations is desirable.
