Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Education/Certification
- Bachelors degree
- State certification in teacher field preferred
Experience:
- 12 years of classroom or tutoring experience middle school preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrate current knowledge and skill in using researchbased instructional methods
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Ability to instruct scholars and manage scholar behavior
- Must be able to communicate effectively with students and coworkers
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to creatively problemsolve in a team atmosphere
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Employ appropriate instructional strategies and activities in order to ensure academic growth for all students
- Demonstrate current knowledge and skill in using researchbased instructional methods
- Create a safe respectful learning environment for students and actively engage them in the learning process
- Modify or provide additional instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and learning needs
- Work with students before and after school and on weekends to provide additional instruction to ensure content mastery
- Work with colleagues to create horizontal and vertical alignment of the curriculum as well as promoting the growth of the organization as a whole
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible
- Use instructional technology purposefully in the classroom to extend learning options/opportunities
- Demonstrate interest and initiative in ongoing professional development
- Promote a collegegoing atmosphere in the classroom and demonstrate high expectations for students

- Computer copier and audiovisual equipment
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintains emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Moves small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment.
