Job Description
Western EcoSystems Technology Inc. (WEST) a dynamic environmental and statistical consulting firm with offices across the United States and Canada is looking for a temporary fulltime Biological Field Technician in Rock Springs WY.

Key Details:
- Compensation: $20 24/hour
- Housing: Eligible for housing reimbursement of up to $700/month
- Start Date: April
- End Date: July 31 2025 with possibility of extension
- Location: near Rock Springs Wyoming
- Additional Details: GPS units and other field equipment will be provided by WEST. Field technicians must be equipped with professionalgrade binoculars suitable footwear (rugged hiking boots) and appropriate clothing.
Job Description:
The primary duty involves conducting:
- Raptor migration surveys (two days per week)
- Surveys for burrowing owls and other avian species of concern
- Surveys and habitat assessment for small mammal species of concern
- Potential to assist with various wildlife surveys at other projects in the region
- This job includes conducting field work in a remote location.
- Fieldwork includes offroad travel with 4WD trucks and ATVs.
- Hours and days will be variable and expected to range from 30 45 hours per week
- Field conditions will include a range of extremely high and low temperatures and varying high wind speeds.
- Candidate must be comfortable with hazards typical of the environment (sharp vegetation driving a fourwheel drive vehicle dust extreme heat and cold). Strict adherence to WESTs health and safety protocols is required.

Requirements
Requirements:
- Candidates must have previous experience conducting avian surveys and strong identification skills of western raptors.
- Candidate must be able to work independently to record data correctly keep survey schedules on track and troubleshoot problems in the field.
- Candidates should be able to interact positively and professionally with project manager field lead landowners and other technicians.
- Employee must be able to appear for work on time (surveys often begin as early as sunrise) maintain focus for long periods of time follow instructions from the team leader maintain positive attitude and accept guidance and constructive criticism.
- Consistent communication with the team is imperative.
- Environmental conditions include working in rain wind mud and very cold or hot temperatures.
- Candidates may encounter snakes insects and other wildlife.
- Proficient use of topographic maps compass GPS units and other field equipment required.
- ATV experience and/or certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Applicants must be in good physical condition as surveys will be conducted in locations where temperatures and conditions can be extreme.
After an offer of employment is made thecandidatemust successfully pass a preemploymentbackground checkdrug screeningand a DMV records check that meets WESTs minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid drivers license will be required. Candidates must adhere to all health and safety requirements.
