About Us:
Gold Care Homes is a wellestablished independent care home group for the elderly operating nationally. Founded in 1999 we have grown to manage 34 care homes across the South of England. Our services include residential nursing frail elderly and dementia care.
As part of our continued expansion we are broadening our portfolio to include care services for young people with learning disabilities. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated manager to oversee the operation of our newly established 8bedded residential care home.
We are now recruiting a Support Worker to join our team and help us make a difference.
Job Summary:
As a Support Worker you will provide personcentered care and support to individuals with learning disabilities helping them to achieve their goals and live as independently as possible. This role requires compassion patience and a commitment to promoting the dignity and wellbeing of those you support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional physical and social support tailored to the individual needs of service users.
- Assist with daily living activities including personal care meal preparation and household tasks.
- Encourage and support individuals in participating in community activities hobbies and social events.
- Work with service users to set and achieve personal goals.
- Encourage skill development in areas such as budgeting cooking and selfcare.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users at all times.
- Administer medication (where required) and follow health care plans.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents in a calm and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities incidents and observations.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues families and other professionals involved in the care of service users.
- Work as part of a team to deliver highquality care and share best practices.
- Attend training and team meetings as required.
Requirements:
- Genuine passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience empathy and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work flexibly including evenings weekends and holidays.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
- Previous experience in a similar role or within the care sector.
- Knowledge of personcentered approaches and positive behaviour support.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities.
