Job Description

Introduction

The Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a worldclass educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. With excellent stewardship from our divisions we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population students teachers principals and other educators throughout Maryland. As part of the Maryland State Department of Education the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

This is a professional position serving as a technical program specialist providing leadership management coordination and direct specialized technical assistance in the administration planning development and implementation of the Divisions Employment Services Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Apprenticeship Services and Business Engagement initiatives; both at the Workforce & Technology Center (WTC) and in collaboration with the entire Agency Business Services team.

Position Duties Include:

  • Supervise direct train and evaluate the entire staff of the WTC Employment Services Department Ensure the achievement of the departments program goals and outcome measures
  • Evaluate the implementation of the relevant objectives of the consumers IPE related to achieving measurable skills gains credentials successful employment outcomes
  • Maintain compliance with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) state and federal laws COMAR and Center/Agency policies
  • Serve in a liaison role collaborating with DORS WIOA Workforce Partner Agencies for various initiatives involving Registered Apprenticeships
  • Work with numerous community partners/colleges the business community throughout Maryland as well as businesses nationally in collaboration with the Counsel of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR)Net team
  • Develop coordinate and provide direct technical assistance for WTC Customized Training programs and onthejob training activities with national and local business partners statewide
  • Collaborate with the Agencys regional Business Services Representatives as well as with other Center and Agency staff statewide to provide employment opportunities and outcomes for consumers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A masters degree or at least 36 hours of equivalent postbaccalaureate course work from an accredited college or university

Experience: Five years of administrative teaching or rehabilitation work in education or rehabilitation programs

Notes:1. Candidates may substitute a bachelors degree and two additional years of experience as described above for the required education.
2. The above requirements are set by the Maryland State Department of Education in accordance with Education Article Section 2104 Annotated Code of Maryland.

Professional experience planning and providing training activities and making presentations

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.
