Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:Gloucester High School has a diverse student body of 800 students and is Gloucesters only comprehensive high school. GHSs top priorities are: Using brainbased culturally responsive instructional practices that engage and support students Increasing socialemotional learning in the areas of selfawareness selfmanagement responsible decisionmaking relationship skills and social awareness to improve student wellness inclusion and belonging.The GHS Medical Assisting teacher will develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state frameworks and industry standards preparing students for careers in a variety of healthrelated fields. The Medical Assisting teacher will teach and train high school students to assist doctors and nurses in providing care to their patients including: recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient files scheduling patient appointments and performing standard care procedures like drawing blood checking vitals or collecting lab samples. Essential employability skills will be integrated throughout the instruction for entrylevel medical assisting positions.
