Job Description
The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire daily substitute teachers for the 202425 school year. Substitute teaching in Weston is a great way to get to know our schools and it can often lead to fulltime employment. About the Weston Public SchoolsThe Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2000 students in prekindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 912 a middle school for grades 68 an upper elementary school for grades 45 and two lower elementary schools for prekindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967 Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. - Establish and monitor routines and procedures for the smooth operation of the classroom and the efficient use of time
- Manage student behavior to allow for high levels of engagement with the content
- Model a precise and expressive use of language to effectively communicate with students including: expectations for learning directions for activities and explanations of content
- Use questions prompts and discussion techniques to cognitively challenge students advance highlevel thinking and discourse and promote metacognition
- Intellectually engage all students in learning through welldesigned learning tasks and activities that require complex thinking and include appropriate scaffolding
- Bachelors degree required
- Previous teaching experience ideally in a diverse public school setting preferred
- Satisfactory Criminal Offender Records Inquiry (CORI)
- Satisfactory Statewide Applicant Fingerprinting Identification Services (SAFIS)
Substitute teachers will be paid $140.00 per day. Please note that substitute teaching assignments are subject to availability.
