Title : Power & Performance Validation Engineer

The Role :

The AMD IP Systems Engineering Team is on the lookout for a dynamic energetic System Engineer to join our growing team.

As a key contributor to the success of AMDs IPs and SOCs you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMDs abilities to deliver the highest quality industry leading technologies to market.The Systems Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

Key Responsibilities

As Power & Performance Post Silicon Engineer you will drive the planning verification and debug of various hardware IP for forthcoming AMD APU CPU Compute and Discrete Graphics SOC programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Defining documenting executing and reporting the overall Power & Performance functional test plan and validation strategy for a set of AMD SOCs.
  • Driving technical innovation to enhance AMDs Power & Performance validation capabilities including tools and scripts development technical and procedural methodology enhancement and various internal and crossfunctional technical initiatives.
  • Debugging Power & Performance features issues found during emulation bringup system validation and production phases of SOC programs.
  • Engaging on presilicon verification efforts with crossfunctional teams including Design Verification (DV) Diagnostics FPGAbased Emulation and other SW/HW modeling frameworks to ensure readiness for first silicon arrival
  • Enabling Power & Performance features and analyzing measured impact Vs expected results.
  • Leading collaborative technical discussions to drive resolution of technical issues and roll out technical initiatives.
  • Lowlevel testing of IP hardware features using diagnostics software tools protocol/logic analyzers oscilloscopes and other test equipment.
  • Developing knowledge of system architecture/debug and other internal IPs.
  • Supporting issues on customer platforms as requested by customer support teams.

Preferred Skills Sets :

  • Experience in digital Logic Design/Validation/PostSilicon Verification.
  • Experience in Power and Performance validation/modeling/measurement an asset.
  • Extensive experience with ASIC debug techniques and methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of physical and protocol levels of common highspeed interfaces an asset.
  • Extensive experience with board/platformlevel debug including clock/power delivery sequencing analysis and optimization.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills an asset (eg. C/C Ruby Python).
  • Extensive experience with common lab equipment including protocol/logic analyzers oscilloscopes etc.
  • Indepth knowledge of PC architectures/PCIe protocol is an asset.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must excel in a dynamic team working environment.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills a definite asset.
  • Must be a selfstarter and be able to independently drive tasks to completion.
