Main Purpose of Job

The Vital Statistics Administrations (VSA) Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS) is used by hospitals hospices longterm care facilities physician practices and funeral homes to register deaths that occur in Maryland. The goal is to have statewide participation in use of EDRS to ensure timely death reporting and reduce the burden on funeral home directors who must transcribe paper certificates into electronic format. This position will provide additional staff resources to assist in the development testing enrollment and training of EDRS users. This position will implement quality assurance procedures to regularly monitor and review EDRS usage. Additionally this position will regularly monitor compliance with established protocols and regulations governing the use of EDRS. This requires contact with funeral directors physicians nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30credit hours from an accredited college or university foroneyear of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degreefrom a college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that includedregular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans policies rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a yearforyear basis for the requiredexperience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience using strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with medical professionals and other team members
  • Experience with training new and existing users on webbased system applications application usage best practices and troubleshooting steps
  • Experience with developing user guides and training materials
  • Experience in applying policies and following standard operating procedures
  • Help desk experience

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
