Job Description
Indigenous Education Focused Summer Learning Program
The DDSB is offering a Summer Learning Program consisting of Outdoor Experiential learning opportunities for selfIdentified Indigenous students. Students will be engaged in inquiry landbased learning that incorporates and supports cultural understanding and learning through the integration of Indigenous content and pedagogy.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in training and planning activities before program begins and submit curriculum to support individual student needs (June 30 July 3rd no work on July 1
- Experience working collaboratively with knowledge keepers and elders
- Ensure regular communication and engagement strategies with parents/guardians
- Actively plan and collaborate with program teachers and community partners in the landbased program design and implementation
Skills and Experience
Strong background and expertise in:
- Landbased learning experience
- responsive outdoor learning opportunities
- experiential learning experience
- Knowledge of Indigenous pedagogy and resources available to support programming
- Parent/guardian engagement experience
- Excellent communication and problemsolving skills
- Skills in consultative and collaborative processes and relationship building skills with Indigenous community partners
- Experience working with Indigenous Youth
- Experience with Nonquon Outdoor Ed facility equipment and trails
Qualifications
- Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification.
- Experience with landbased learning programming.
- Indigenous ancestry lived experiences and community connections are an asset.
Additional Information
- Nonquon OEE site.
- Program Dates: June 30 July 22 2025 (no work on July 1 2025.
- Monday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. with a maximum of 100 hours.
- Multiple positions available.
