Job Description
The incumbent/s will be working on an asneeded basis; however all Tutors will have assigned hours to be present for tutoring and will have expected hours of availability for walkin traffic at the campus and for appointmentbased tutoring inperson and online via video. Additionally Tutors in some subject areas may be assigned to a Laurel Ridge course as an embedded Tutor which requires the Tutor to attend class in person or virtually and to provide additional group study opportunities in person and virtually. Provide quality scheduled onetoone walkin smallgroup or classroom tutoring services to students of Laurel Ridge Community College based on a comprehensive understanding of concepts and information in subject areas to be tutored. Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize students potential for academic progress. Maintain accurate records of individual and group tutoring sessions and all attendees. Give consistent feedback to students on achieved progress; exhibit positive regard for student. Uphold high levels of professionalism and student confidentiality at all times. Compensation Laurel Ridge Tutor Scale effective July 1 2024 : Student/Peer: $16.29/hour Bachelors: $21.72/hour Masters: $27.15/hour Doctoral: $32.58/hour The position is part time and as such cannot exceed 29 hours per week and is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies. Telework According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking effective July 5 2022 Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with prepandemic policies telework may be an option for certain eligible positions.
