The Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2000 students enrolled K12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools a middle school a high school and an alternative high school; and the SnoIsle Skills Center a cooperative vocational technical school.
Our Community:
Located northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Our backyard is the scenic Skykomish River and Cascade Mountains. Sultan School District includes the community of Sultan Startup and Gold Bar. Students from Index attend Sultan High School.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance in maintaining monitoring and reporting of monthly payroll; communicating with and providing customer service to staff and outside agencies or vendors to meet district needs; preparing and processing a variety of documents orders etc.; processing a variety of district state or federal documents and reports; and inputting of data into computer. Assist the director with daytoday operations of the Payroll department.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This is an office job. The employee is confined to a work area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; must be able to work at a computer monitor for prolonged periods; and must be able to crouch crawl bend kneel and lift/move objects such as files boxes etc. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation:
The Payroll Specialist shall be evaluated periodically by the Director of Finance pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the performance of the above essential job functions.
