This exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Commissioning team which has a focus on Learning Disabilities Autism and Mental health.The role is a 2year fixed term or a 2year secondment for internal candidate who is ready for the next step in their career.

Birmingham City Council is keen to develop the regulated and unregulated market and improve the outcomes for the citizens of Birmingham.A key priority within the Framework for Change is how we develop a market which offers allage personcentered support that is responsive able to adjust and that supports people to enjoy their best life in their local communities.

If you have a passion for improving the lives of citizens with Learning Disability Autism and/or mental health then this role is for you.

The Successful candidate in this rewarding role will need to lead on implementing the below in an environment that is fast paced busy and sometimes challenging

  • To lead on the development and mobilisation of a new strategic approach to market development/ market shaping for adult community care and support for adults with complex learning disabilities Autism and Mental Health and behaviours that challenge within Birmingham
  • To undertake a review of current provision and framework arrangements including input from internal and external stakeholders to enable the system to better understand what is working well current challenges and gaps to incorporating views from internal and external stakeholders including individuals accessing support providers and commissioners.
  • To lead on the development of a new strategic approach to market shaping and relationship management to ensure sufficient community capacity to meet the need of our population now and into the future years. To gain approval via placebased governance provide ongoing reporting on progress and delivery.
  • To ensure that the provision is aligned to local and national ambitions reflect the values of the Birmingham and the Mental Health provider collaborative and are focus on improving health and live outcomes for our population within financial limits.
  • This will include a defined process for onboarding providers ongoing relationship management and alignment to local authority and health service quality assurance processes.
  • To develop a bespoke training offer to providers to upskill the provider workforce in key areas such as reasonable adjustments sensory environments understanding of the Mental Health Act trauma informed and Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
