As part of its special education programming Extended School Year (ESY) Services are provided to eligible students. Franklin offers a number of ESY programs from preschool through high school. Extended School Year services are provided to students who meet one or more of the criteria for such services as outlined in special education law. Typically eligible students require services because they have demonstrated or are likely to demonstrate substantial regression in his/her learning skills and/or substantial difficulty relearning such skills if an extended year program is not provided. Responsibilities:Administers medication and basic first aid care as needed and requiredMaintains positive communication with ESY Director teachers and staffIdentifies specific medical responsibilities corresponding to the particular health status of the students and arranges appropriate management for the students in ESY setting. Informs staff of student allergiesFollows the Department of Public Health Guidelines in regulation to exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseasesTriages students and or staff with an injury illness or accident and provides appropriate intervention following protocols and policySupervises the administration of medication in compliance with school policy and state regulationsWorks in conjunction with staff to develop a comprehensive nursing care plan for students when appropriateMaintains records of all nursing related activities and medication logsReports to parents staff and directors regarding students health issuesCounsels students parents and staff pertaining to individual and or group health issuesPerforms related work to support ESY program as requiredQualifications:Registered Nurse licensed in MassachusettsSchool experience and DESE license preferredMust be the kind of person who is warm caring and respectful and have a strong desire to work with young children.Hours:ESY ECDC Programs July 7 August 7 2025; 8:00 1:00 M T W THESY Elementary and Middle Programs July 7 August 7 2025; 8:00 2:00 M T W TH* *(Dates subject to change)Compensation: $39.00/hourSuccessful applicants must be available for the full duration of the program.Please note which specific program(s) you are interested in i.e. Elementary/Middle or ECDC.
