Job Description
Position Summary:
The English Second Language (ESL) Teacher is responsible for creating an educational program classroom and building environment that is multicultural favorable in learning and growth and is based on a commitment that all children can learn.
- We are looking to hire potentially 2 ESL teachers
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acquires knowledge of the schools academic programs and expectations/goals; works to support and achieve those goals.
- Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for self and students; communicates them to students and their families.
- Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe respectful and interesting as well as Multicultural.
- Selects adapts and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills.
- Collaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resources to support learning.
- Assesses student developmental cognitive and social needs and provides developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs.
- Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment.
- Facilitates positive interactions between students and teachers students and peers and students and other adults.
- Models learning and behaviors consistent with the expectations for students.
- Participates in ongoing and regular staff team and individual professional development.
- Collaborates with peers to develop plan and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students.
- Participates in sitebased management and shared decisionmaking.
- Participates in all staff development as scheduled.
- Participates in school/family events beyond the school day.
- Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an asneeded basis.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred not required
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of middle school curriculum and concepts including all subject matters taught.
- Knowledge of data information systems data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in selfevaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience:
- Current MN teaching license in English as a Second Language or the ability to obtain a teaching license.
- Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check
