Position Summary
The Department of Communication & Media Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a tenuretrack position in Communication to begin August 1 2025. The duties in this role include: Teach 20 credit hours per year typically 5 courses. Teaching is primarily in person. New course development. Serve as a faculty mentor or advisor for student cocurriculars. Supervise internships honors theses. Eventually serve as advisor to student honor society. Develop opportunities for student engagement. All tenure track faculty are expected to engage in sustained ongoing professional development and scholarship/creative work. Must meet the minimum requirements outlined in Collegewide policy on Scholarship/Creative Work at each major review during the probationary period (Midterm Tenure). Conference attendance and presentations. Participate in collegesponsored or disciplinespecific professional development activities (e.g. CAF workshops NCA short courses). Produce peerreviewed scholarly publications in the field. Participation in department meetings recruitment/alumni activities and assessment. Curriculum development. Participate in faculty governance; serve on governance or other committees. Assist with admissions and alumni outreach. Basic qualifications are required at the time of application: The successful candidate will have expertise in interpersonal/relational communication and/or social influence. A Ph.D. in Communication is required. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students research and ongoing scholarship. Preferred qualifications (not required qualifications for the position): ABD candidates with an expected completion date by the time of appointment will be considered. Broadly trained teacherscholars who can teach a variety of current undergraduate courses and who will help to develop our program for the future by creating curricular and cocurricular opportunities that enrich our liberal arts tradition.
