- ABOUT THE COURT
Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 36 facilities within the Courts 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4800 fulltime Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of more than $1 billion. Located in Southern California Los Angeles County is geographically one of the nations largest counties covering 4752 square miles and with overresidents is also one of its most populous counties.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Associate SelfHelp Attorneys provide legal information and services to selfrepresented litigants in support of the Los Angeles Superior Courts SelfHelp programs.
Associate SelfHelp Attorneys may be employed for a maximum of three years on a limited term basis. Employment is At Will.Associate SelfHelp Attorneys may only practice law within the scope of their duties as employees of the Court and are prohibited by Court policy from any outside practice of law during the course of their employment. This prohibition includes giving legal advice receiving fees and/or appearing in any court on behalf of another person.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To qualify you must meet the following requirements at the time of application:
Graduation with a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school AND admission to practice law before the Supreme Court of the State of California AND a member of the California State Bar in good standing.
Those that took the California State Bar Examination and are awaiting results may also apply.*
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements
A valid California Class C drivers license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out jobrelated essential functions.
*Applicants that took the California State Bar Examination and are awaiting results must provide proof of successfully passing the California State Bar Examination to be placed on the eligibility list. Proof must be emailed to Failure to submit proof of admission to the California State Bar by the application deadline date will result in your application being disqualified.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing in other languages in addition to English
- Pro bono volunteer or paid experience providing legal assistance to selfrepresented or lowincome litigants
- Completion of one or more terms of volunteer service in JusticeCorps other AmeriCorps or other similar service programs
To receive credit a legible copy of your diploma or transcript (unofficial acceptable) detailing the degree conferred and the name of the educational institution must be attached to your online application.Failure to submit the required documents at the time of application will result in your application being disqualified.
