Position Overview
The Associate Scientist Innovation is responsible for assisting with McCormicks Flavor Solutions Innovation Team with developing existing and emerging innovation platforms. This role requires coleading and managing technology research projects from conceptual experimentation to process and technology demonstration. The position requires applying the scientific method to conduct research and report findings conclusions and executive recommendations within internal confidential reports or in industrial or academic domains including scientific papers invention disclosures patent applications and customer meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Project : Plan and colead projects define and assess project requirements and experimental design.
- Investigating and assessing new ingredients and technologies.
- Provide support for model food system evaluation support to the Optify team.
- Interface and communicate project status with stakeholders and R&I teammates.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree with 3 years of experience Masters degree with 2 years experience. Degree work should be in biology chemistry chemical engineering food science or related disciplines.
- Technical research experience in the following areas: food ingredients and technologies for food pharmaceutical and beverage applications; using various ingredients for taste modification; performing scientific experiments statistical data analysis and writing scientific publications; sensory science; data science; benchtop process scaleup and pilot scale processing; customerfocused technology development and project management for technology transfer and commercialization.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively through written and oral communications with customers interdepartmental groups and business leaders as appropriate. Proven intellectual curiosity and selfstarter collaborative behavior. Ability to influence others and do so in a leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or MS in Food Science/Technology Food Engineering Chemistry or a related field.
