Job Description:
This Research Assistant or Associate is primarily response for coordinating the subjects for psychiatric research studies. The title rank and stipend of the position will be determined according to the degree and experiences. The Research Assistant is to recruit and consent the patients for the study at UTMC administer the surveys to the participants collect required information of the participants organize data in the lab and contact the participants to schedule their participations. The Assistant may be trained to assist and conduct human subject experiments using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Electroencephalography (EEG) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Virtual reality (VR) therapy psychophysiological recording and other techniques. The assistant may collect biospecimens such as hair and urine samples and may process the human blood samples if needed. The Assistant will operate computer software for behavioral tests. Good interpersonal communication skills and basic medical knowledge is required. The applicant is preferred if he or she is familiar with programming in R Matlab on a Linux workstation for imaging data analysis. The work hours are flexible but irregular and including evening and weekend hours. Will be exposed to psychiatric patients and families in the hospital. This may result in a high level of stress as well as potential exposure to diseases and/or infection while working in the hospital environment. The applicants are required to complete all requirements for working at UTMC and all IRB and Grant trainings. Approvals of UTMC and IRB are required for the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications/Knowledge Skills & Abilities
The applicant has a major or work experience in healthrelated field. Basic medical training and/or research experience preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with participants. Prepares reports summarizing activities utilizing Word and Excel. Ability to maintain the highest level of patient confidentiality. Familiar with behavioral tasks and/or programming in R Matlab on a Linux workstation for fMRI data analysis preferred. The applicants are required to complete all requirements for working at UTMC and all IRB and Grant trainings. Approvals of UTMC and IRB are required for the position.
Education/experience/licensing:
* Undergraduate student graduate student bachelors degree or higher in healthrelated major is required
Work experience in healthrelated field.
Basic medical training and/or research experience preferred. Medical or premed students are preferred
