Job Description

To: All Teaching and Administrator Personnel Brockton Public SchoolsFrom: Dr. Kathleen F. Moran Assistant Superintendent of Human ResourcesSubject: Teachers 20 for The Elementary April Vacation Math Acceleration Academy An Acceleration Academy is a weeklong academic program designed to accelerate student learning through engaging standardsaligned lessons that meet the specific academic needs of students participating in the program. Students who attend an Academy receive the equivalent of approximately one extra month of learning in one week. The Brockton Public Schools has received a MA DESE grant to support an Acceleration Academy focused on math for students in grades 35. Students will receive 5 hours of inperson math content instruction and a specialist class each day Tuesday through Friday of April vacation week 2025. Classes will consist of 10 students. We are seeking 20 Acceleration Academy teachers. All teachers are expected to participate in preprogram professional development and jobembedded professional development (i.e. coteaching planning etc. with onsite instructional coaches. High quality instructional materials have been identified and a general sketch of lesson flow has been created for each day. Planning time for fine tuning lessons is included each day. Qualifications:MA DESE Licensed teacher elementary and/or mathematicsDeep understanding of MA DESE Mathematics Curriculum Framework.Experience teaching grades 3 4 or 5 (preferred)Responsibilities:Participate in preAcademy professional development March 20 March 27 and April 3 from 4PM6PMDeliver 5 hours of projectbased math instruction each day aligned with MA DESE math curriculum learning standards using high quality instructional materials (Illustrative Math etc. Attend and instruct students for five hours in total each of the four days April 22 25: 7:30 AM3:00 PMFully engage with instructional coaches (math and special education) to employ teaching strategies that will fully support all learners.Program Dates and Times: PreProgram: March 20 March 27 and April 3 from 4PM6PM During Program: April 22 April 25 7:30 AM 3:00 PMCompensation: Program & PreWork 36 hours total at the contractual per hour rate.Funding Source: MA DESE Acceleration Academy Grant
