Job Description

Dean of StudentsSeacoast Charter School is seeking a Dean of Students. The Dean of Students will advance our progressive mission by collaborating with the Head of School and the SCS staff to effectively cultivate a positive and productive learning culture for the whole community. This position reports to the Head of School. Attributes:Demonstrates deep knowledge of child development from early childhood through early adolescenceRigorous work ethic balanced with a warm personalityEffectively evaluates opportunities for improvement and implements systems for elevating the schools missionLearns with curiosity and thinks flexibly; balances strategic and systematic thinking with empathyBuilds productive relationships with students colleagues and familiesPossesses effective and compelling listening communication management problemsolving and analytical skillsBelieves that all students can learn and supports students to self regulate and develop positive relationships with their peersShows a strong sense of integrity initiative reliability and accountability Is responsive meets deadlines and works well under pressure Responsibilities:Student Services:Cultivate strong relationships with students to encourage positive behaviorsServe as classroom teachers next point of contact for assistance with student dysregulationProvide assistance and guidance with student behavior and support classroom teachers by:supporting teachers with major classroom disruptionsleading the development and implementation of positive targeted supports in response to ongoing behavioral challengesintervening in discipline issues and assist with conflict resolution following SCSs Conflict Resolution ProcedureCollaborate with the special education team staff and students Attend IEP meetings when necessaryLead the development and implementation of appropriate programming and interventions to increase appropriate student behavior Partner successfully with families and staff to support student successLead the Student Support Team Maintain student discipline records and documentationStaff Support:Train coach and support staff working with students with challenging behaviorsAssist teachers in developing behavior management plansProvide home/school behavior intervention support modelsConsult with teachers and IEP teams as requestedSupervise and support Teaching AssistantsRequirements:Experience working with both elementary and middle school studentsKnowledge and understanding of progressive education and pedagogical practicesKnowledge of and experience with best practices in conflict resolution and supporting students in positive interactionsPreferred Qualifications:MA in Education Special Education Educational Administration or a related fieldKnowledge of laws pertaining to student behavior and rightsMinimum of 2 years working with students with behavioral challengesExperience in supervisionTerms of Employment: Starting salary range: $52500 $63400.Contracted for 200 days per year.Other terms to be determined by the Seacoast Charter School Board of Trustees and documented in an individual contract.Candidates should submit a resume cover letter statement of educational philosophy and references to
