The Estimator will support the delivery of accurate and timely cost estimates budgets and schedules for assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
Analyzes documents specifications proposals addendums in preparation for pricing.
Assists with RFPs and General Contract tender submissions.
Supports team in preparing quantity takeoffs from construction drawings where applicable.
Research and/or obtains pricing from Suppliers and Subcontractors that can be incorporated into project estimates.
Assists with prequalification submissions RFQs and RFIs as required.
Aids in estimate creation for bid submission labour equipment material rentals and subcontracts.
Attends site visits in advance of estimate creation
Ensures the distribution of documentation appropriately upon award.
Collects data for reports on established business key performance Indicators.
Support with the maintenance of files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
Provides technical support to field staff when needed
Coordinates Scope Changes as required.
Incorporates / complies with Aecons risk management policies and procedures.
Maintains estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Required/PreferedKnowledge and Experience
Civil / Construction / Electrical or Business Diploma or Degree Program
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
Knowledge of contract language / Terms and Conditions / Bonding etc.
knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting / reporting principles an asset.
Selfmotivated with excellent organizational skills.
Strong computer skills MS Excel / Word / Project and estimating software.
Excellent communication skills oral and written.
Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
Capability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel as required.
