Payroll Tax Manager is tasked with overseeing the comprehensive payroll tax functions of a company ensuring adherence to federal state and local tax laws. This role involves leading a team responsible for the precise calculation collection and filing of payroll taxes while remaining informed about evolving tax legislation. The manager serves as the main liaison for all payroll taxrelated inquiries within the organization and collaborates with both internal and external parties to resolve tax issues. Additionally the manager conducts regular audits of payroll tax procedures to verify accuracy and compliance prepares detailed reports on payroll tax obligations and payments monitors and evaluates changes in payroll tax regulations and implements necessary updates to processes or systems in response to new legal requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed both major and minor which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Maintain extensive knowledge of tax regulations for federal state and local agencies and their application to all Truist tax entities. Use knowledge of Workday payroll to ensure tax withholdings are set up correctly in system and accurately deducted and reflected on the teammates check.
2. Manage multisite/state preparation of all payroll reporting to governmental agencies including responsibility for overseeing resolution of complex payroll tax inquiries from the Internal Revenue Service Social Security Administration state governmental agencies and other agencies.
3. Oversee the annual preparation of W2s to ensure accuracy of timeliness of reporting to employees third parties and governmental agencies.
4. Manage the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual tax reporting for all governmental agencies thorough our third party provider ADP.
5. Set up reporting agency structure within third party database together with IRS compliance letters for new and existing corporate entities. Manage third party tax vendor relationship.
6. Oversee the payments via reverse wire transfers to governmental agencies using knowledge of tax regulatory procedures.
7. Lead research and the resolution of notices from the IRS and/or state taxing authorities in a timely manner.
8. Conduct research through tax reporting service to determine tax law application to all types of compensation payments.
9. Assign resources to update employee wage and tax balances for stock options relocations and other miscellaneous adjustments and maintain accurate ledger of all payroll payments and deductions.
10. Direct team in testing system modifications to ensure accurate tax reporting processes.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree or equivalent education and related training or experience
2. Six years of professional expertise

3. Three years of payroll experience including supervisory or management experience with an indepth knowledge of payroll tax and regulatory reporting requirements

4. Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as tax guidelines

5. Demonstrated leadership experience (ability to supervise mentor train and develop a team) as well as the ability to manager diverse resources in a deadlinedriven environment

6. Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and implement best practices to improve products processes or services

7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

8. Strong understanding of accounting principles and methods

9. Ability to deal with and resolve problems effectively under pressure

10. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software products including MS Word Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certified Payroll Professional.
2. Eight years of multistate multicompany payroll operations experience
3. Four years project management and/or quality assurance experience.
