MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Missouri teaching certification
- Knowledge of state standards federal and state regulations and law
- Knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques
- Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and reading instruction
- Knowledge of subject matter content and assessment strategies
- Ability to relate to students staff and parents in a positivemanner
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and in writtenform
- Ability to follow written and oral communication
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to collaborate with staff
An individual who holds this position is required to:
- Have a thorough understanding of evidencebased instructional best practices.
- Exhibit theoretical and researchbased knowledge of the Science of Reading language acquisition and child development.
- Provide intensive reading instruction in phonemic awareness phonics fluency vocabulary comprehension and spelling for students performing below expected proficiency levels.
- Research teach and model best practices used to address the needs of those students who struggle with reading and writing.
- Create and implement researchbased lessons to teaching reading at tiers 1 2 and 3
- Utilize and implement effective classroom management strategies and techniques to promote a positive learning environment
- Establish rapport and communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns
- Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher
- Coordinate assist and support with the implementation of Reading Success Plans
- Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
- Work with teachers and administrators to develop and use appropriate literacy strategies implementation plans and assessment tools.
- Assist teachers in utilizing a variety of ongoing skillbased assessments to inform and differentiate instruction
- Assist with leading and implementing district and schoolwide reading initiatives
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students peers parents and staff members
- Participate in building grade level and subject area committees/departments/team meetings
- Participate in professional development activities
- Participate as a member of an IEP team 504 team or other student assistance teams as requested
- Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans individual educational programs and individual health plans
- Willingness to learn new skills and perform a variety of tasks
- Report suspected abuse neglect discrimination and harassment as directed by Board policy
- Perform other duties as assigned by building and/or district administrator(s)
