Job Description
Overview
Metal Exchange International (MEI) isseeking a detailoriented and motivated Junior International Accounting Clerk. This role provides essential support for our accounting and finance operations with a focus on managing financial records processing invoices and ensuring compliance with international trade and VAT regulations. The ideal candidate has a foundational knowledge of accounting import/export processes and valueadded tax (VAT) and is eager to learn and grow within an international collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Check approve and record incoming vendor invoices related to logistics including customs clearance transportation and warehousing costs.
- Work closely with the logistics and supply chain teams to ensure accurate billing and timely payments for services.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate data of commercial parties in the system of record.
- Ensure timely payments to vendors and service providers following internal processes.
- Support VAT return submissions in various EU countries.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Communicate effectively with vendors customers and internal teams to ensure smooth financial transactions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- Basic training in accounting or a higher degree (e.g. bachelors degree) in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
Experience
- 12 years of accounting experience preferably in an international environment with exposure to VAT compliance and import/export.
Language Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
Other required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Preference is for experience with accounting software Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Outlook Word).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations customs procedures and VAT compliance is a plus.
