Working Business Language: English.This role is considered a headoffice role and will be required to communicate with internal and external stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language for this role is English. As such the successful candidate must be fully proficient in English.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor Claims Special Investigation Unit the Claims Investigator Desk based contributes to Wawanesas goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the thorough detailed specialized investigation of referred files and to fraud prevention initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate potential fraud indicators on referred claims and develop investigation plans including analyzing data to identify potential patterns and inconsistencies
  • Utilize advanced investigative tools and technologies leverage specialized software and tools for fraud detection and investigation
  • Ensure proper documentation and management of investigation data and evidence
  • Conduct investigations in accordance with company policies procedures and best practices by collecting and analyzing all relevant evidence including conducting virtual and in person statements with key parties
  • Compose thorough and accurate investigation reports and provide ongoing updates on the status of investigations to claims teams in a timely respectful and collaborative manner
  • Maintain accurate claims system records based on company standards and policies
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with law enforcement investigative organizations and other key stakeholders
  • Attend court proceedings if required to testify to support investigative findings
  • Remain up to date on fraud trends and best investigative tactics to continuously improve effectiveness
  • Collaborate with internal departments by working closely with Underwriting Legal and other Departments to ensure a holistic approach to fraud prevention
  • Serve as a resource and provide training and consultation on fraud detection prevention and investigations
  • Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • 3 years of Auto Property or Casualty claims experience
  • Previous Insurance Investigative experience or Adjusting Experience an asset
  • Previous OSINT Investigative experience an asset
  • Postsecondary education and/or completed CIP or equivalent property and casualty insurance industry designation
  • Ability to make excellent and well justified decisions in complex and highpressure situations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a diverse team and to respectfully and effectively communicate with members law enforcement and other key stakeholders
  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills including demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and using data effectively to enhance operational outcomes
  • Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced changing environment
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
