What Youll Do
- Interprets federal and state laws regulations and orders as they apply to environmental practices.
- Implements policies and procedures to ensure that these work activities are in compliance with the appropriate statutes and regulations and that reporting requirements are met.
- Oversees specific projects from an environmental perspective at Y12.
- Reviews and analyzes environmental documentation issued by the federal EPA state and local regulatory agencies.
- Determines impact on company operations and publishes compliance strategies and requirements.
- Evaluates proposed regulations to determine impact on company operations.
- Interacts with federal state and local regulators to resolve compliance issues; establishes permit requirements; and assists in EPA state and regulatory audits.
- Investigates and resolves compliance issues and problems questions or complaints received from within the company customers government regulatory agencies etc.
- Evaluates current policies procedures and documentation for compliance with government laws and regulations.
- Environmental Compliance (EC) lead on projects at Y12.
- EC contact for permitting on responsible projects including excavation permits JHAs HIWs and construction checklists.
- Participate in Emergency Management CADRE if required.
- Work with UCOR TDEC EPA EM NNSA and other parties for Project team (touches on all work across the sites that could affect each others scope).

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in a relevant Engineering or Physical Science discipline: 4 years or more of relevant experience
- Masters degree: 3or more years of relevant experience
- PhD: No experience
- Twelve or more years of relevant education training and/or progressive experience may be considered to satisfy educational and yearsofexperience requirements for this posting.
- Requires a complete understanding and broad application of technical standards principles theories concepts and all environmental regulations including CERCLA.
- Requires general knowledge of other related disciplines and/or functions as they interact at Y12.
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years jobrelated and 1year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)
