ABLE Inc. standing for A Brighter Living Experience has been providing residential care to people with developmental disabilities within Houston County for over 30 years. First named Houston County Group Homes the 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation began as a grass roots effort by concerned parents who sought an alternative to sending their loved ones with disabilities to state institutions or keeping them out of the public eye. Starting compensation for a Full Time Direct Support Lead ranges from $20.20 $22.90/hr based on experience.

Positions available in Caledonia MN

Hours: Shifts will vary between early morning daytime and pm. Location as needed.

This position participates in weekend rotation and holiday rotation.

As a Direct Support Lead you willperform a variety of tasks during the course of your day:

  1. Assistpeople supported in becoming valued members of their community by helping them develop friendships and maintain family relationships.
  2. Demonstraterespect for each persons right to dignity privacy individualized attention and choice.
  3. Be knowledgeable of the vulnerabilities and needs of people supported demonstrating the ability to implement all plans of protection relating to those vulnerabilities
  4. Be knowledgeable of the capacities gifts and interests of people supported demonstrating the ability to advocate on behalf of the person.
  5. Teachpeople supported living skills while promoting opportunities to increase independence choice and selfmotivation.
  6. Demonstrateconsistent use of behavior intervention and management techniques in a manner which is respectful and as least intrusive as possible.
  7. Implementprograms and activities as specified and assigned.
  8. Monitorand assurethat the clothing and personal items of all people supported are appropriate to need and choice.
  9. Is knowledgeable of the histories formal assessments Community Support Service Plans (CSSP) and Individual Assessment/Risk Management Plans (IA/RMP) of the people supported.
  10. Order medications and medical supplies
  11. Balance People Supported Check Books
  12. Oversee house petty cash/EOM balance.
  13. Perform house grocery shopping

*Otherduties and responsibilities depending on your shift and specific program*

To help you complete these task we provide all direct care staff with:

  • Positive Behavior Support Training
  • First Aid Training
  • Medication Training
  • Annual trainings andrefresher classes

Requirements:

  • A desire to work with peoplewith developmental disabilities
  • Prior supervisory experience helpful
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Good Attendance
  • You arenotrequired to be a Certified Nursing Assistant CNA but CNAs are welcome
  • Cleared as a driver for the agency

This is a Fulltime position working at 34 hours/week and participating in weekend and holiday rotationproviding direct care to people with developmental disabilities.
