Job Description

Upper School Mathematics Teacher Grades 79 Prealgebra to Algebra 2 Beginning August 2025Description: Fay School seeks a dynamic and flexible individual who loves teaching and understands how to engage middle school students in appreciating mathematical concepts and developing the foundational skills necessary to thrive in and beyond the classroom. Building on Fays existing math program this teacher will collaborate with colleagues and teach courses in Prealgebra through Algebra 2. Outside the classroom the Upper School Math Teacher is an advisor to a small group of students coaches or assists in afternoon programs for two terms and participates in the residential life program as a campus resident or offcampus faculty member. This position is fulltime and is eligible for benefits. Campus housing may be available.Qualifications: A bachelors degree in math math teaching education or a related field is required; a masters degree is preferred.Responsibilities include:Preparing and delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons to grades 79 studentsUtilizing technology to enhance instruction and learningDelivering appropriate materials lessons and regular assessments of students in grades 79 using a variety of teaching strategiesIssuing effort grades and comments for students in a timely mannerConducting parent conferences and communicating effectively with parents and familiesCollaborating with colleagues in gradelevel team meetings and department meetingsAs an advisor serve as a primary point of contact for communication with parentsCoaching or assisting with two seasons of afterschool sportsResidential duty including every fourth weekendFay School values teachers who believe in differentiated and developmentallyaligned approaches to teaching and learning integrate instructional technology understand the importance of cultural competence and are attuned to the social and emotional growth of young students.
